A Black background and white text are FAR less of a consumer of battery than a complete white screen! Both of those said and out of the way. What about Accessibility MS?? What about this whole new ONE Microsoft? The majority of the theme in WP8 is Black background and high contrast so you can read in just about ANY light and do so clearly. And the light blue text too???

I hate the limit of the three Office themes. Even the Dark Gray one is so insipid, that every time I open a menu, my initial impression is that all of the options have been 'greyed out' and therefore are not selectable until I remember that it's just the bland theme. Step-by-step how I got there: 1. First I switched between different themes to find out which colours changed and then I picked one that stood out. I grabbed a screenshot of the light-blue colour, and grabbed the hex colour code in Photoshop b0. I searched for all the. I opened up a. I used grep to search all the. I opened the files one by one using HxD and then searching for the string.
DLL the strings were all lined up with what seemed to be other color code strings. When I tried to rename the original MSO. I renamed my modified file to MSO. Using the above method, one should be able to change one colour after another to figure out which colours do what and then create a map of all colours that can be changed.
If someone out there would be keen on throwing some code together, please let me know. Almost done with mapping out all the colours. For the dark theme only, there are colours you can change and a total of unique colours. Not sure what the guys were thinking when designing the themes. Once done I will create a dark theme with maybe 20 colours in total which should help in designing themes going forward.

It's people like you who cope the "feedback" while the people who came up with this "BRIGHT" idea are too busy collecting the money and patting themselves on the back to ever burden themselves with feedback.
Sadly this is totally typical of software companies today, now we have fast processors and big hard drives they got lazy and frankly the quality of output is not just wasteful it is darn-right amateurish.
Hopefully Microsoft continue their contrary behaviour and leave the door open for someone with a quality product to gain some market share; I for one will continue to try alternates. Its been over a year, I don't believe you have not get enough complaints about this. I am sorry but seems junk people has developed their base at MS. They don't care about customer's feedback.
